O/T Forum.

I posted a serious question about porn sites a short while ago, it got 6 replies all of which either completely missed the point or didn,t address the question, someone post a question about sad fucking celebs or poxy tv programmes and the world replies. I,m afraid the O/T forum has gone downhill rapidly in the last few weeks, it really has become the O/T of O/T forum, I know I can be as guilty as the next person for un-needed crap, but since the forum split, this half is looking very sad sometimes with mindless banal trivia, and only a few humurous(sp) replies..

I think a lot of us are suffering from passive S56ism. Not helpful, not funny, but possibly true.

I agree it is a rollercoaster ride to see who can O/T the most O/T topic, and was quite amusing at first but now has become a little tedious.
I CC do solomly swear that I will refrain from making posts about
Rolf Harris, Chopper Bikes, Vesta Curries, Curly Wurlies or any other
O/T 70's or 80's topic.
I suppose S56's influences all rubbed off on us a little bit, and we were
all carried along with the waves.
By the way did I mention that were having an open day at the studio next saturday ??
Cheers Chris.

So why did they split the forums up then? Off-topic means just that. If you don't like the topic, don't follow the thread. I know things can get silly here, but the last thing we need are rules as to what can or cannot be discussed (apart from the genuinely offensive, of course - but we all know that). Common sense, then?

Those who have been posting on the forum regularley ie: not you! will know what I mean, if you look at the forum title again, you might understand.
I dont think Woodgnome, Phil, and Alec had 'H list celebrities and shite old TV programmes in mind, when they set it up. and actually the last thing we do need IS rules, to stop all the mindnumbing shite thats posted on here now.

It can be bloody annoying to start a thread about something (politics, sport, price of tea, whatever) and come back 15 messages later to find it's now about whether Jeremy Beadle is John Wayne's long-lost son. Some kind of guidelines are clearly necessary, because in the few weeks this place has been going we've already become seen as bitter, twisted, angry, middle-aged men.
A sign of how detached we've become can be seen by the contributions of the people the site is supposed to be about: the models. A very occasional visit from one or two of them suggests we're well off the radar screen.
Worryingly, too, some people are beginning to name friends and describe their lives as if we were one big family. Now we could all tell good stories about other folk, but they might not enjoy having their lives posted here for all to see.
Just some observations. Feel free to ignore (as usual).

I hope your not inferring my good self as 'newbie scum' - that would be offensive. However, new as I am, I imagine if this o/t forum was just side issues concerning the models then I'm sure you'd see the numbers trail off fairly smartly - other sites, other forums being the reason. The last thing we need, by the way, is to chance excluding people with regulations. Like many, I fancy, I like this forum for the variety and entertainment, however wayward, as well as the contrast it plays against the straight porn posts. Yes, Caractacus makes an excellent point about topic threads shifting their focus and so perhaps a touch more discipline in that area would be good thing, I agree. There's no need to stop the match just because we've gone off the ball somewhat. Hopefully it's just a phase.

I'm as 'guilty' a party as anyone for that but i wouldn't post here at all if it wasn't for just anything. One man's meat and all that

IMO that there is one rule that are relevant in all forums
NO 1...if you going to go off on a tangent from the original question
o/t in your header
As to the topics being posted
Reminds me of the BGAFD days when three old farts used to carry on their own private conversations.Funny at first but very quickly annoying to most
Everything in moderation
As I've said previously If you don't like a topic post your own
cheers
