Has anyone successfully used this piece of software to download largish files ie around 700Mb successfully?
Any tips on tweaking it to get the best settings?
Thanks in anticipation
Larry

There are several variations to edonkey, most of them easier to use. They all have their own websites for info.
The easiest may be emuleplus:
http://emuleplus.sourceforge.net/
Check out
http://www.sharereactor.com/ for links and films etc.
If you don't have broadband it is futile downloading 700MB films.

Many thanks for that. I do have broadband anyway. I found that loading files up to about 295Mb wasn't too bad but waiting for anything bigger wasn't worth it. Perhaps I gave up too soon.
Have you any advice for the what settings you should use with emuleplus & sharereactor?

Just read the FAQ etc on the associated web sites, If you are really stuck there are message boards on the emule, for example, web site so you can ask a question.
It is a good idea to leave your PC running overnite if poss. The longer you can leave it on the faster the downloads are likely to be as you get to the front of the queues on multiple sources.
Expect to take several days for a big download. But obviously you can do several at the same time. You can also see the date it was last downloaded complete as it is usually a waste of time downloading a film that is not available complete.

Larry, my preferred p2p. I get a 700mb in 10 hours if a lot of sources. Best to get eMule and not eDonkey. There is a credit system so you won't get very fast uploads at the beginning but when you have built up some contacts in the client file it really takes off.
