She has paid for her crime, lets move on. It serves NO purpose to Joe Public to know her whereabouts 30+ years after her crimes. She has a teenage daughter and she should be protected from mindless vigilantes who seem to think raking up the past is a good idea. Mary Bell was wrong to profit from her crime in a book a few years ago, but her new identity should be kept from idiots and the media.

On vigilantes.
There is always a chanted promise of retribution, but I'm still waiting for someone to follow thru and give those cunts that killed Stephen Lawrence a good beating.
We all know who did it, yet none of the mobs who promised to do this, that and the other have done fuck all.
Those 5 racist bastards deserve the beatings of their lives yet they remain untouchables. Would Mary Bell just fade away even if we did know who she was?
I've heard so many people raqnt about the Bulger killers.
Do people actually ever follow thru?
Unlike the morons who firebombed a Paedeotricians house because the word Paedo jumped up and slapped them.

talking of retribution and hurting people, I have a great new lead on "Big Boss" and some other sick/evil puveyors of viruses.

Take note Old Bill/Microsoft(who should and COULD do more) any any other interested parties.

When and if I find them, I will kill them.

I share your view, Ace. However, anonymity should be conditional on the criminal not being able to profit from their deeds subsequently, if only for the sake of the victim's family. If there were, for arguement's sake, a book written about Thompson & Venables (Bulger case, assuming they too gain life-long anonymity), then any profits should go to agencies like Victim Support and the like.

Terrible cases: Bulger, Mary Bell, Steven Lawrence, Shipman etc all need to be written about thoughtfully and accurately at some time and quite apart from crappy tabloid hackstuff, and perhaps that can't be done without the involvement of the perpetrator. It's a question of how this can be done fairly, I guess.

Having seen a documentary a little while back about Ralph Bulger, and the very terrible pain and anger he endures; I could imagine a scenario where he for one would follow through if he could get hold of Thompson or Venables. The guy was in sheer torment.

Not to worry, I imagine those five racist bastards will engineer their own downfall eventually in the manner stupid, vile types like them often do. Give 'em enough rope...so to speak. As for those vigilantes, didn't someone try to attack one of the moors murderers at a funeral they attended once? And let's not forget the power of the press and their ability to turn the public against people - the paedeo-hysteria you mentioned was purely press generated. Mary Bell may have something good to offer society and shouldn't be stopped from bringing it forth. But it really is publish and be damned these days.

Well the 5 bastards from South London have remained untouchable ever since.
The fact that they tried to run over a black cop and got away with it, cements the fact that the british legal system is a fucking joke.
