.... before steve56 gets it in. Top Westerns.
My fave is on ITV at the moment. The Searches, John Waynes best imho.
Clint Eastwood original spaghettis, For A Few Dollars More, A Fistful Of Dollars and The good The Bad And the Ugly
Young Guns
Silverado
Some of the other forumites might not consider it a western in the traditional sense but Tom Selleck in Quigley Down Under

My personal favourite that I NEVER tire of watching is High Plains Drifter. Eastwood re-shot this as Pale Rider, but not as good IMO. Unforgiven was good, Good,Bad,Ugly is brilliant, and True Grit is also excellent.
Hang 'em High and Josey Wales are good, but too long.

Agree with Ace. 'High Plains Drifter' is mine too although the Spaghetti Westerns always had something a bit more didn't they? There are many, many SW that i've never seen and heard a lot about. In fact i'm not sure they've ever been shown here.

must admit most westerns are very predictible girl always acts as if she hates the guy then she ends up falling for him theres always a spoilt brat in the way shes either divorced or on the rebound etc.

I'm not a fan either, Steve but that was kinda what i meant by the SW. They just had something less obvious about them and were tolerable but i know EXACTLY what you mean about the girl in those films

One of the best Western visions i still have is where Clint E and Eli W(?) are with a bunch of limbless and on-their-last-legs soldiers and they could possibly save themselves if someone could blow up a bridge which C & E do. Just found it something extraordinary that they do this for these guys when gold was on their minds, as usual. Great moment to highlight what the backdrop was thru all of the main characters isolated quest for wealth at any cost. That was the difference between Westerns and Spaghetti Westerns for me
