Dumb and Dumber? It was wholly derivitive. Dear me. I'd be struggling to name many truly great comedies but could go on forever as far as bad ones go. 1 film i saw which was a comedy i suppose and absolutely original was a film many wont have heard of called 'Three O'Clock High'. Amazing camera work, good characters and simple plot turned into a very big deal. Also the climactic fight doesn't disappoint either. Great film.

Was The Graduate a comedy? What's Bringing Up Baby doing in there?

Funny things these TOP 10 you will never agree with the list.

I'm sure Empire made these lists just for their staff to surf this forum and get a giggle in between wanking at the babes

I wouldn't go out of my way to watch The Graduate again, buy Baby is a cracking scewball comedy.

I agree all these lists are very subjective. It depends a lot on age as well, I know lots of much younger people who just can't follow things like Baby, they find the dialogue too franetic and the plots too complicated. But they love the gross-out stuff that I find just too childish. Or perhaps I'm just an old fart.

Comedy of manners possibly, but I think it's just Empire's way of featuring what they want to. I have no idea if these are commissioned pieces, previously published stuff, of just material they had on file and have put to use.

I certainly had no danger of laughing myself into a hernia when watching The Graduate. And I doubt that a remake with Vic 'n' Bob would do much more!
