We all say we hate Eurovision but while it was on the forum was very quiet. Are we all closet fans of bad European music?
Britain got absolutely thrashed. We were the only country out of 27 nations to get absolutely no points at all. It makes me proud to be British. Even the Ukraine beat us.
Terry Wogan tried to say we were deliberately singled out for no votes by the other countries because of our invasion of Iraq. Its more likely that we got no votes because our entry was a pile of old pants.

Dont know about the contest itself, but there was some nice jack and annie up there tonight, the 3 girls that were backing the irish guy, were pretty stunning, well fuckin fit actually! I watched the UK entry, regardless of the song they were hopelessly out of tune, even our cat left the room, also the first entry, Iceland I think, the girl was gorgeous, and should have won on her rack alone.. anyway it,s cool to get no points.

Regarding "nil poins" for the UK entry, I think the entire UK population will be in shock for weeks afterwards with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and a complete loss of self esteem.
We will have to bow and scrape to countries like Latvia now.

There are alot of happy bookies in Ireland tonight.I think that the style that won Ireland the eurovision for all those years has went out of fashion with the mainlanders. While the UK has been trying to get more mainland in the form of pop music, failing also. The problem with these isles is that the mainlanders dont particularly like the style that we have, but if we were to send something that would appeal to them it would be branded a no hoper by the Irish and so nobody would be watching and even less would care if we won.
And of course there is the fact that Mickey arte(Ireland) was clearly tired of singing that same fecking song for the billionth time. You could really hear the lack of enthusiam in the last few weeks when he was performing on show X the same song that he was obviously sick of hearing. Not that it was a bad song, and he did do it well tonight, but it still fell slightly short of the energy it had back when the Your a Star finals were on(a pop idol like show where he was picked after a nearly 6 month run).
I cant believe that Belgium did so well-according to one of the presenters(wogan or our man on Irish tv cant remember)because Belgium has 4 languages they decided to sing the song in a made up language. In other words they were singing meaningless gibberish. And their former lead singer was sacked for having neo-nazi connections:
Did anybody agree that it was worth watching for the female entrants?Usually it is composed mainly of has beens and drag queens and god knows what else. But it was worth watching for the birds in the French,Turkish,Icelandic,Swedish,Portueguse and a few other acts. Not to mention the girl presenting in the studio and the blonde French vote caller.
I didnt see much of TATU bar a news clip but it sounded pretty bad. There was alot of bad feeling for them in the venue-I presume its old anti russian hostillity.
I was half rooting for the mad Austrian once it was apparent we wouldnt win. Cant believe he did so well.
And did you hear-twice a year now!Qualifying rounds and the real ones.Oh god.

I agree the UK entry was crap, I only caught the end of the show, but I have heard that UK song, it had no chance. Its so funny that it got no points, for years we have been laughing at Norway and other countries getting nil points, now its Gemini who are the laughing stock, I mean Ireland could have given UK points but they didn't cause the song was pants as Magoo put it. I didn't think it had any thing to do with Iraq, thats just an excuse to make Gemini feel better, but the real truth is they were shite. The UK would have been better off getting some idiot from Pop idol UK to represent, at least some of the europeans would have heard of them, not that I would think they caould win but any things better than this crap. Hell I would much rather see Lisa Scott Lee in it, at least we got some thing to look at. Thought the Turkish girls were cute, shame about the song, I thought Tatu girls was gonna do it for Russia as they are well known.
