As some of you may know the release of Terminator 3:- The Rise Of The Machines, is imminent which is all well and good by itself but I've got a problem....
The problem is this. In 1984 when the first T-100 tried to kill Sarah Conner,(also bringing Kyle Reece into Sarah's life which as you all know led to the conception of John, taking her from a waitress and turning her into some hardcore she bitch with a hard on for taking out Cyberdyne) the remnants of which inspired the tech-heads of Cyberdyne in a new direction and started work on the Skynet system which would ultimately lead to mans downfall as the dominant species. With me so far?.
Fast-forward a couple of years to T2 - Judgement Day, John Conner the future saviour of man is a juvenile delinquent and Sarah is locked up in a loony bin when John's future self sends another T-100 to protect him from the T-1000. At the end of T2 with help of Miles Bennet Dyson the Cyberdyne building is totally FUBAR, the original T-100 CPU and arm are put into the smelting pit with the 2nd T-100 and T-1000. Correct?
So my problem is, ignoring alternate realities and splits in the river of time. Why didn't everything revert to as it was before?
Why was John still around?
Because surely if they destroyed all of the work on the Skynet project it would no longer happen so it could not take control of the global weapons systems and such, and then the war would no longer happen. So Kyle Reece would not be sent from the future Sarah wouldn't have been impregnated and John would not have been born.
If things had progressed as normal she'd probably be some 45 year old slapper on her fourth marriage with nine kids, still waitressing and trying to pull 25 yearolds that are too drunk to know better on a friday night.
So really the biggest problem is, assumoing that you've followed my ramblings is, How can there be a third film?
