Nightline request TONIGHT

Something slightly different... does anyone get American news channel ABC?

If so 'Nightline' is doing a documentary on the adult porn industry ( details here ) and I'd really like to see it.

I don't have ABC, so if you do, would you mind taping it and sending it to me - I don't mind paying a reasonable price.

Easiest money you'll ever make!

Cheers,

Matt

PS Email me if you can, cos I appreciate this is a little o/t

I do get some ABC programmes either via trans-atlantic downlinks designed for the likes of the BBC or Sky to pick up or via the European media links which show raw footage for any tv networks that fancy covering a story but I`m not sure about nightline because it might be encrypted. I will keep an eye open.

BTW watching the raw newsfeeds makes you realise how much our news is censored in this country. Not just for political reasons but also all the horrible war footage that gets bounced around the globe is also edited before we see it. And also domestic stories, I picked up a feed tonight from Reuters showing a Brazilian policeman blowing a shoplifters brains out. That will be shown all over europe but not on UK tv stations because we like things soft and cuddly in this country. Reality is not what our media want us to see.

BTW I am not a journalist. Just a satellite anorak.

Ah, an interesting post magoo. It is indeed a fact that those who control the media only allow the stories and pictures to surface which back up their own political/bigoted/loony views. The journalists and programme controllers also like to have a quite life, so they stick with 'safe' i.e. bland stories and footage, as they do not want their bosses, The Daily Mail and subsequently politicians to get on their case. Just look what happened to Channel 4's Brass Eye program a while back when it pointed out a few home truths about the paedophile hype industry.

It is supremely patronising and offensive to those with half a brain that some cunt deems that they might be upset at a seeing the reality of the world and take it upon themselves to present a sanitised version of events. This affects the population at large, dulls their senses, shapes their opinions, views, and voting habits. But of course that's what the politicians and newspaper proprietors want. Unfortunately, when people?s cosy little lives and cruel reality collide it came come as a terrible shock.

Don't accept censorship. Actively oppose it at every opportunity. ?They? are taking the piss.

T.T.T.

Magoo, thanks for recognising my all-knowingness. Did you manage to catch the programme? If not don't worry too much - turns out ABC actually sell their programmes on video anyway!

Good points about the news - thought provoking stuff..

Sorry Matt it was nowhere to be seen. Looks like you will have to buy it. I know Sky News repeat some of ABCs output but I dont think Nightline is one of them.

On the subject of censorship of the news. I saw an interview with a BBC journo who filmed a massacre in Bosnia a few years ago and he had a huge row with his bosses in London when they refused to show the footage. They claimed it might upset the viewers. Surely it would be better to allow people to see the true horror of what goes on.

Sorry Im off topic I know!
