Hello Everyone.
I have just returned my DVD recorder to Comet, all they have are re-furbished machines, all currys have the same, I would say that the technology has not been overcome, Do not buy, best price I got was ?247.good price , but not a good machine. Wait for it all to be sorted. Thanks Paul

Just wondered why you don't rate this machine. Would it be because of the 'disc warning/disc error' messages it gives you before failing totally? If so, you are not the only one!

There are many forums on the web with users having the same experience, me included! Fantastic when it works, but totally unreliable.

However, Philips have now released a new recorder, dvdr75, I think. This might be better, or you could try the Sony one at about ?700!! Or the Panny 50, diff system though.

I have read in the hifi mags that Sainsbury are to get hold of a ?250 version this year, and that the prices are due to tumble...I'm going to hold on to later in the year.

If you are recording a film from tv to dvd can you cut the adverts out ?
Can you store stuff on a hardrive in the dvd recorder and compile it ?

Elton you can edit using these machine by dividing and then deleting. The panasonic is the best and most flexible system and the higher model has a hard drive though a cheaper option is to buy a second cheaper panny machine which plays only do all your editing on the disc on the ram and then use that to play back and record onto a dvd-r disc as sold in tesco cheapley.

The panasonic - ram is the best and most stable system ,I agree with the thread starter about the phillips my company will not touch then due to reliability issues ?(ok if they work though in fairness).

Cheers Rhubarb !
