Credit where credit is due
England flogs Australia in their own backyard 25-14 in Rugger
England beats Pakistan in a Cricket one dayer with 28 overs to spare
As all good things come in threes
that can only mean
Tim Henman to win Wimbledon in straight sets
6-0 6-0 6-0 against Andre Agassi
cheers

God, I hope not. Yes, I have the Celtic disease of wanting to see England lose sporting events. I like English people, so what is the reason behind this malady? Well, twofold really: first, hype---and the press and broadcasting media are mainly responsible. Whenever an English team wins something (and it need only be a friendly football match or a one-day cricket match), they become potential World Cup Winners (TM). Example, just before the World Cup in France, John "personality bypass" Inverdale interviewing then Arsenal defender and England fringe man Martin Keown about his sudden propulsion into the national set-up loses the plot entirely:
"But how does it feel knowing that you could be playing in a World Cup final soon?" (At least Keown had the good grace to look embarrassed).
Secondly, there's the attitude. England just seem to be such bad winners---the rugby union side in particular. As if they are getting what is their due. Maybe it's just a false perception, but sometimes, the arrogance of such an attitude is so much the English teams make the Germans seem modest by comparison.
Okay, I'm an embittered Jock, and there are plenty of you out there (Ace in particular, I've no doubt) ready to shoot me down. But I think I'm making a fair point---or making what I believe are reasonable observations.
Oh, and there's something so naff about the Home Counties set making an idol out of an overgrown schoolboy, waving their nasty little flags and welcoming people to "Timbledon" (gosh, that's so funny!).
(Apologies in advance to anyone who takes exception to this post; I must be more bitter about not being able to attend BGAFD3 than I thought!).

So what? It's only tennis - one of he the most elitist sports imaginable. If Henman did win (which he won't because he's too bloody soft) it would be forgotten about a fortnight later as it was with go-go Goran. And why? Because football is the main course and the rest just paltry side orders.
And Wimbledon. What a load of toss.

Being Welsh, and having to watch my own 'boys' get a hammering everytime they travel to the southern hemisphere, I still can't take any pleasure in watching England win. They're such chinless, public school, captain's piss drinking middle class motherf**kers. It doesn't reflect well on us Welsh folk, especially given Aussie sports fans are complete smug wankers who deserve to get hammered.

"get a hammering everytime they travel ?" - that should mean anywhere they travel to including the Millenium stadium.

Being half Scottish, Glaswegian to be precise I am still proud of English Rugby's latest victories of NZand Aus.
England, and Britain as a whole are very good at many sports, unfortunately due to the press feeding us with every move of David Closet Batty Boy Beckham you wouldn't know.
Rowing, Shooting , Athletics, Motorsport, Horse Racing, Squash, Superbikes etc etc.
As for Henman forget it. Nice bloke, simply not good enough player.

Henman is a slag, plain and simple. Don't rate him and don't fancy his chances. He gets 'lucky draws' and blows it at the last hurdle.
