i find his story all very life of brianish (if there is such a word,i doubt it but how cares im sure you get my jib) if what i read about him is true he is the incarnation of a god who has mortal form.when the previous dalai died they chose him because he recoginzed some stuff and said its mine,no being crucified and raised from the dead or parting the red sea or flying on a cloud witha big stick ala monkey no hedid what any 4 year old does he said "miiiiiiiiinnnnnnnnneeeeeeee" and then proberbly played with his new walking stick for 5 minutes ,got bored and went back to throwing stones down mountains.
ever since then hes lived the life of riley, hes always good for a quote and good luck to him.
but i cant get the thought of his mum (mrs lama) saying
"HE'S NOT THE DALAI LARMA HE'S A VERY NAUGHTY BOY"
out of ones head

' if what i read about him is true he is the incarnation of a god '
You did'nt read enough old boy ...as Buddhists don't believe in god !
He is the reincarnation of a Brahmin boy who lived in the time of Buddha a follower of Buddha who was born and died a human !
When asked was he like his previous incarnation he simply said that his predecessor loved horses and he didn't care for them (he likes to fix clocks and watches)
i don't know how much you understand about Buddhist reincarnation....
er...like ...nowt
but Tibetan's believe in no fixed soul (anatman) no self ,not (atman)
a soul that lives forever !

Buddhism teaches that wisdom should be developed with compassion. At one extreme, you could be a goodhearted fool and at the other extreme, you could attain knowledge without any emotion. Buddhism uses the middle path to develop both. The highest wisdom is seeing that in reality, all phenomena are incomplete, impermanent and do no constitute a fixed entity. True wisdom is not simply believing what we are told but instead experiencing and understanding truth and reality. Wisdom requires an open, objective, unbigoted mind. The Buddhist path requires courage, patience, flexibility and intelligence.

Duke we're not having a pop at you..its a fact that the subject you chose to reply to is as hot in my mind as the palestinian/israel conflict
Infact if you read one of my posts you will see that I commend your sense of humor...unfortuantley your sense of humor is fine but the topic has a dark side
The Chinese since they invaded Tibet have tried to destroy the Tibetans in every way.I could mention some of their tortures against anybody asking for independence.Lest just say that what they did in tianamen(spelling) square was miniscule by comparison to what they have done to the Tibetans(estimate 1,000,000 dead,200 monasteries destroyed) )
Tibet is like Palestine with the one difference-Tibetans are peace...they don't believe in violence
This is why the dalai lama lives his life of riley globetrotting the world searching for anybody that make the Chinese leave
To this day no one is interested...no OIL in Tibet.......they have no future while the west ignore them...and yet they still persevere...why?
Intestinal fortitude...NO...a belief in the everlasting soul...YES
Makes me sick to see shit like this happening
For mine chinae& North korean are the 2 worst nations on earth for crime against humanity
But whos going to do anything about it-no one
cheers
