By "backup copies" I take it you mean copies you have made of the originals in order to sell them.

Do you not realise that these films are copyright protected?

I'm sure the companies that made those films haven't given you permission to copy and sell them....

You are entitled by law to make a backup copy.

....and to answer your question, no, that isnt the reason for the copy. They are 'backups' - as i said.
