Anyone see the 'lost footage' from 'Game of Death' on C5 tonight, fucking awsome!!! I have quite a bit of Bruce's stuff, and I sat gawping at this genius at work with stuff never seen before.
Im not violent, but if I could fight like him, I'd go out looking for fights!!

Unfortunately my TV reception is still bastard wonkey so I am unable to watch C5.

I dont usually mind as 99% of C5s output is a pile of festering excrement but there is occasionally something on worth watching like the Bruce stuff tonite.

I was a big fan of his films when I was a kid. I havnt seen any for years though. I think british TV went all politically correct and refused to show stuff that was gratuitiously violent for a long time. I mean in the eighties they showed stuff like Death Wish with Chas"Monkey Scrotum face" Bronson murdering street thugs for the entertainment of the vengfull public. ITV even showed the violent rape scene that was later cut by the BBFC on the video release. The tide seems to be turning now and these things are now deemed cult classics.

Is it true that Bruce died from taking an aspirin? Sounds like an urban myth to me.

i have a communal aeriel but its been iffy since 2000 ,the only way i get good reception is by playing it thru the vid[tuner]all channels.

I watched the Bruce Lee doc on CH5 then switched to CNX on SKY to watch Game Of Death (granted a fuckin poor cut & paste job done 5yrs after his death) but was shocked to see how his character died half way throu,he was shot on a film set when somebody used a real bullet instead of a blank,then almost 20yrs later the same thing happened to his son Brandon on the set of The Crow....very creepy

Cant believe its been 30 yrs since his death,i wasnt even born when he died but his legacy lives on,Bruce & Brandon Lee...RIP

Living in Hong Kong for much of the 1970's, I was REALLY into Bruce and the martial arts scene. His official cause of death was a brain edema(?) as Steve pointed out from iafd, BUT Magoo is also correct, as is The Last Word.
Bruce was no angel after massive stardom in HK (hadn't had his films released in the US as yet) and spent time with dodgy prozzies and discovered the joys of opium. As he was rocketed in the big league, the film producers at Golden Harvest (HK film company) wanted to secure his signature as they knew he was gonna be huge, but Bruce decided Hollywood would come soon, so Golden Harvest lavished the VERY best in escort girls on him and the finest opium too. Bruce was fanatical about training and exercise and his body fat was 4% ( Agassi in his prime was 8%) he was THAT fit, so when he started to experiment with opium with the best lady/starlet on Golden Harvests books, his body, which was so pure, reacted violently. He was sick and was put to bed. He was still sick later and was given the equivilant of an asprin, but this was devastating and ruptured a blood vessel in his brain. Sex occured later, and the adrelinin rush on climaxing caused to the ruptured vessel to haemmoridge causing the edema.
This is fact. The bogus bit about having drugs administered to him while he was asleep is myth, as is Golden Harvest being triad run and were mad about the prospect of losing millions if Bruce had gone back to the US and ordering him to be whacked by their starlet.
What IS fact is that Golden Harvest DID film segments of Game of Death that only recently surfaced, causing the myth they were held back till the right offer came so triads would let the world see. It seems the world has moved on and not bothered about Bruce's legacy, so Golden harvest 'discovered them' in the vaults.
The 1978 Game of Death is a shoddy piss poor affair that was put together with old footage form Fist of Fury, and body doubles. The REAL Game of Death was outlined last night (and known by fans as the Pagoda challenge)
and this footage was awsome. Jackie Chan was the 'next Bruce Lee' but as good as he was, even HE would have admired the footage last night.
