I downloaded this clip on my old slow computer and was then told I needed a "decompressor" assuming one can be downloaded where can I do this.

Decompressor? Assuming the file is zipped (compressed), you can download and install winzip.
Go to h**p:\\winzip.com

Its an evaluation version that never expires..

If the file is not zipped (or compressed with rar or ace etc) then you probably need a codec (compression/decompression). These make avi's smaller by eliminating superfluous data (much like a jpeg).
In that case, the missing codec is almost certainly a divX one. Go to h**p:\\divx.com for a free download.
