I am only too aware of Pontefract. Sometimes I wake up screaming knowing it's lurking out there somewhere.

Is it true that lovely, sem-clad girls will be on the streets handing out the famous cakes and Licquorice Allsorts. It is rumoured that the famous Berty may be coming out of retirement just for this event.

What bugs me is that P has THREE railway stations.
All with silly names.
But I like their cakes.

No Berty.....
Just Magoo naked on a horse , his long golden hair flowing as he rides from Harrogate......... throwing flowers (the bitter) at all the nice people who line the streets ...shouting hooray !

As the Romans named the town after a broken bridge (pont=bridge, fract=break) I was wondering.....have they managed to fix it in the last 2000 years?
