Disabled People

Something that REALLY grips my shit is the bitter disabled person. Not that I blame them as I would dread to be disabled or lose the loss of a limb. I was in town today and noticed a wheelchair user sizing up a doorway which had a door that didn't open on sensor. I opened the door for them with a polite 'C'mon mate'.
If looks could kill.............. He snarled he wasn't a TOTAL cripple and didn't need MY help. I really felt like a cunt holding the door open for him. I would bet my mortgage he's probably the type that would INSIST on being helped if the door wouldn't open itself with a sarcastic comment like 'Can't you SEE I can't get up and open it?'
Don't want a deluge of forumites calling me insensitive, and making me feel more of a cunt than I was today, but anyone else suffered anything similar?

As I said, I would hate to live like that, and I KNOW I would be bitter, but not to the point of taking my fury out on anyone who TRIED to help.

I've had similar experiences with some disabled people. I hold the door open for anyone, I'll step out of the way if anyone is coming through a narrow space. But a small minority of wheelchair-bound people make you feel as if you've just shat on their doorstep when you do that for them.

I fully support and acknowledge their independance, but some people seem to have a vendetta against ANYONE who TRIES to help

Heard a Glasgow Urban Myth one time from a mate that ties in with this.

Guy sitting on a bus on evening after work and it's busy as hell. All the seats taken and more people pilling on at the next stop. One of these unfortunate standees is a midget and as more people cram on board he's getting jostled about like a little rag doll.

So this good natured fellah decides he's gonna do him a favour and give up his seat. He offers it to this bloke only to get rebuked in the most vulgar and ungrateful manner.

The guy sits back down and he's fuming at the ingratitude. He bides his time until the small one gets to his stop before bellowing out

"Haw Grumpy!!!!!! Ah hope Snow Whites burnt yer fuckin' dinner when you get up the road!!!!!!!"

In Glasgow it just might be true.....

Do the right thing and email me instead of cluttering up a decent thread.
