Two points if the more technically minded of you out there could answer for me pleeeeease.

1) What size dish and decoder box do I need for the more naughtier stuff on satelitte? Any recommendations for the INITIAL outlay and then the on-going cost?

2)What connections do i need to copy DVD onto video's. Im all connected to watch but which leads do I need and where do I obtain them? It 'looks' like the audio/video links are compatible to VCR's but Im 'reliably informed' that most DVD players are 'chipped' to prevent copying of DVD discs to video tape.

Before this is reviewed for deletion, can I politely point out Im NOT copying porn, but the DVD boxset of The Shield.

2. Connect your dvd to your video and try it. You may be surprised! If the video appears blurred and distorted then its a copy protection thing called Macrovision. You may be able to turn this off by entering a code on your DVD remote. What's the make and model number of your DVD Player?

When you try to record a DVD the picture gets all screwed up because of "Macrovision" like Sky Box Office uses to prevent you taping films off there.

To get round this you need a DVD player with Macrovision disabled. You can buy them already modified or you could get yours modded. Shouldn't cost much... I got my DVD player a while back from multiregionmagic.co.uk region free and macrovision disabled.
