Hey. I just bought one of these......

http://www.tech-report.com/reviews/2003 ... dex.x?pg=1

..as a second PC, mainly to encode video while I work on another machine. If anyone is after a new PC or a second machine I highly recommend these little Shuttle units. 1 x 5.25" and 2 x 3.25" bays. 1 x AGP and 1 x PCI slots. Aluminium casing, 4 x USB 2.0, Firewire port, ethernet, 2 x VGA outputs. No CPU fan needed. I fitted mine with a Athlon XP2800, 120GB HD and 512MB DDRamm. I've never built a PC before either but this was easy ;-)

It's runs really quiet and is super speedy! Not to mention less than 1/3 of the size of my current beige 'thing'. If you're thinking of upgrading and don't need 4 x 5.25" drive bays and tons of PCI slots then these are great IMO. Look really smart too. :-) wouldn't look out of place in my Hi-fi rack.

I got it from , parts from ebuyer.co.uk and crucial.com/uk

That minimalist case looks great, but is the fanless CPU heatsink up to video work? Mind you, some ppl use laptops for video work, and they?re even less well ventilated than a bare-bones. Don?t know how long their CPU?s last though...
