Does anyone know about computers on this forum.I emailed my ISP provider about a small error i am having and heard nothing for over a week now,so i thought if anyone knows what problem i got with my system.

when i come on to windows main screen i get a little message popping up:
Error starting Program

A required DLL. PSABI.DLL was not found

does anybody know what this mean (i'm not having problems with connection or accessing emails)Well i think you all know that because i wouldn't be able to post this.

Any body knows it would be appreciate it.(and what i want to know is it just a tiny thing or is it a big problem that's about to occur in the future)

Ouch man

DLL's are files which programs use to run themselves or something - if a program can't find the required DLL in you registry it can't run - it sounds like it could have been deleted. This is bad and unfortunately I dunno what you can do about it. It could have been removed if you have uninstalled any programs recently is my only suggestion. If you have maybe you should reinstall.

Cheers for that,
Actually it was psapi.dll file,But it started around Thursday Night,Well my sister came back for a few days to stay with me as she had work around my area and she was sorting a lot of stuff out and she was having trouble trying to shut down certain accounts she had with yahoo/btinternet/hotmail on my computer(like emails accounts and business folders of hers)so maybe (i have to ask her what she done next time i see her)what she did to close certain files or what she click to shut down as it seems to me she click something and doesn't release she shut a certain dll file down somewhere

Like i said its not causing major problems, but i don't want to see that message every time i switch computer on.

I've got this too, Carl, so it might not be to do with your sister's files - more like something we've both unwittingly downloaded such as a virus or spyware, and yes, it doesn't seem harmful. However, I'm really busy at the moment, so I'll have to give it the full ad-aware/spybot/virus-scan treatment tomorrow. I'll post any findings when I can, and, of course, you can keep me posted if you find anything too.

Thanks To Joe King with the info,

Sorry to the Last word for not replying str8 back(i was like you trying to sort it out).

Hopefully i got it sorted,as it didn't show when computer rebooted itself(though it did ask me i have changed to a different system and i needed to save current changes which i said yes to now.But going to keep the details of the sites Joe provided and keep instructions as well for each documents just in case.

Also you can try a system restore to when your computer was last working before this error. Computer can be such a pain in the arse at times i swear they are female sometimes.......lol.

Just a week ago i got that blood msblaster virus and i my antivirus was great to detect it but would not remove it, and it stupted me and i just re-formated my pc and lost alot of work as i wasn't going to back it up in case it was infected also had to shut down the network so it didn't infect the laptop either.

I did this 3 times and this bloody virus jumped back on my pc as soon as i re-connected my broadband ,was so puzzled ended up calling a friend of mine who gave me a link to my isp's website of how to remove it and since then no problems.
I was so prepared to not re-install Windows Xp Professional back on my pc but though no this virus aint getting the better of me this time.....lol
