Porn market tied up?

The UK market for porn videos seems wrapped up. Only certain companies, Private/Evil Angel for instance seem to get there videos on to the market through retail outlets, the shops in Soho are a prime example of this as they all seem to stock the same titles.
Could anyone answer me why this is, is the market tied up? And have porn producers found it difficult in placing their products onto the UK market?

Just a guess, might be volume (lack of)/distribution costs/
having to get their stuff re-certificated.
Or it could just be US parochialism (again)........

Just an observation from outside
Why the illegality on mailorder in the UK if everything is on the Up & Up?
Something stinks big time about the way these sex shops have been set up.
Politics.

"Here is the low-down fellow punters" The shops with said licenses 18R are all owned by 4 companies. They want to make the most money they can (and why not) so they go to USA/Germany and buy up video rights which they then package themselves BBFC18r themselves and sell in their own shops. Some swap units with each other. This is why you get the same titles in all the shops. They don't produce British material because why bother. They believe as a punter you will spend your ?50 on what they have. If you want a Ben Dover tape and they don't have it you will buy a Evil Empire one instead. Because you have to wank and they have the only license to sell that material. If anyone try's to beat their system they either inform the correct autorities of the said person/company. Or they get heavy. Try and get a shop license in their areas and they object like mad. Try mail-order and they will grass you up to trading standards.
So to the British producers I feel sorry for their plight but they have no yes NO way out. The shops don't want their stuff at any price and as long as one of the group does not take it then only a few shops in the country will have it.
The two options one company has told the shops they are not having their titles at any low price so they don't sell to the shops (have you heard the "there is no demand for that title" yet). The other sells cheap where every they can so at least the shops stock some titles and they try to play them against each other. The problem with this is the shops are begining to get full of titles so the demand for newer titles is less and with no real new shops opening there is not even a light at the end of the tunnel.
I for one do not know the answer

The answer dear punters is simply not to buy those American imports - anything made after 1996 is crap anyway. Go to your local wank shop and demand high quality British movies (not the odd unpleasantly tacky one that may be available) from British producers. Movies with truly gorgeous girls, girls with a modicum of class, girls that have the essential prerequisites of a porno model - tits n' ass! And tell em you want movies with a bit of imagination and attention to the script, interesting locations and settings (not the fuckin' Travalodge on the A12 just outside of Ipswich) and tell them that you want your movie presented and packaged with the same artist flair, imagination and quality that we have come to expect from Private and the big American companies. And tell them that your not buying anything else till that happens.
Then you'll find cynical British distributors beating a path to the doors of high calibre British producers (I can only think of one offhand - evenin' Pete!) offering them wads of cash to go and make some decent movies. Which should result in porno niavarna for the British consumer!
