A few weeks ago, a forumite likened Jesus to looking more like Yasser Arafat to the nordic golden haired icon we have learn to 'accept' as his true image.
It was an excellent observation, and I would like to raise that with the padre on camp...........its not as if he will report me to the CO

Would it have helped if he'd been born in 1969?

Did he exist? Probably.

As in the New Testament? Unlikely. Stories written down long after he'd gone. And we all know how stories grow arms and legs.

Son of God? Possibly. More likely a political/religious agitator who seriously upset the ruling council of Judaism and certainly the Romans. Interesting that the Bible has the high priest pleading with Pilate to put him to death as the Jews don't have a death sentence. Given his alleged claim to divinity, wouldn't they have been within their rights to stone him to death as a blasphemer?

I'm sure wiser people than me will shoot my arguments down in flames. As an atheist, I really don't care.
