Motorways

If like me you trawl up and down the Motorway,s and suffer the congestion that is now the norm, the M6 link opens soon (toll) it going to be about ?3 for a car and ?10 for a lorry, but I cant make my mind up if I will use it!, if your travelling back from the South and there is a jam a Stafford on the M6, then whats the point, you will just end up in a Jam on the toll road trying to join the M6 again, and vise verse the other way, I reckon also they have deliberatly(sp) put the lorry toll high, to discourage them from using it, therfore they will stay on the old M6 and we will still have Jams, and another thing, when people say we have great civil engineering companies in this country, it,s bollocks, or we wouldn,t have so many M,way repairs going on, why cant they build a m,way with a surface that lasts at least 10 years, before it needs repairs?

Thanks for listening.

May be the surface wouldn't wear out so quickly if there wasn't so much traffic on our motorways!

If we had a decent rail network we could have more goods trains & take these lorries off our roads.

Why not go back to using the waterways, I know it's slow but it's effective.

We should really cut down the amout of traffic on our roads, it's far too much.

I travel everywhere by bus & I hate just crawling along at 5 mph stuck in a queue of traffic. It's worst during term time with the bloody school run. Why can't the kids have more school buses. Do you know that some parents won't let their 'little darlings' travel by public transport cos they are worried about their safety!! So they take them in the car even if it's just a short trip!!!!!!!

Oh well that's my little rant over!

Thank you & good night!

Has anyone ever thought about the question:- How many traffic cones are in use on any one day on our motorways and normal roads?. Must be millions

Plenty of places worse off the Britain

The fact that every member of the nuclear family has their own car as opposed to one car in the family probably says it all

Little wonder we've gone this way when you consider the appalling lack of cohesion between rail & bus.The safety aspect is well documentd. It doen't exist...which is why concealed weapons are being favoured more and more
by everyday folk

Only a matter of time before us pedestrians will be wearing gas masks outdoors IMHO

Hong Kong I believe tried tackling the congestion/pollution problem by making people share cars when entering bulit up areas where congestion was rife.So instead of seeing 20 cars with one occupant you were more likely to see 5 cars with 4.

I get the impression here in Wellington that many commuters use public transport. But that leaves the SUV at home for wifey to use it for shopping and the school run.

I grudgingly admit that American motorways, or Highways, PISS on ours. Infact, their equivilant of our B roads piss on our motorways
