Couldn't post this yesterday as my computer's been dead all week, but just thought I'd mention the fact that guitar god Jimi Hendrix was born on 27th november 1942, so he would have been celebrating his 61st yesterday, if he were alive of course.

I watched Jimi Plays Monterey to celebrate yesterday.

A Very over-rated guitarist IMO. Original and talented, I'll give you that, but over-rated nevertheless.

Jimi Hendrix over-rated. lol! Even though most people tend to agree he was the greatest, i still say he was UNDER RATED, not necessarily as a guitarist, but as a musician/artist in general (finest musician of the last 50 years IMO). His ability to play several styles is unmatched, as was his improvising, his ability to play other instuments often went unnoticed.
There is always a tendancy for people to pick flaws in someone regarded as the greatest at their own particular craft. 'I could play that if i practised enough...' that sort of thing, like you said regarding Jimi's practising Giles. So what, did EC never need to practise than? i don't think so.
Give me some canvas and some oil paint and I could recreate a Van Gogh or a Picasso, doesn't make them over rated or me as good as them does it?
Not a day passes where i don't hear something, whether it be a song, a riff in an advert on the TV etc... that I felt was influenced by Jimi.
