And Barbarella where he wanted to have non-bonking sex with Jane Fonda. A good actor in his day, and I'm still sure Austin Powers was at least partially based on his character in Blow Up.

How can you fail to love a film so utterly tacky and high camp, and has its heroine stripping off in zero gravity for the opening titles.
They keep talking about remaking it. Ten years ago, it was supposed to be Sherilyn Fenn, now it appears Drew Barrymore owns the rights.

i don't think a remake would work, it was very much a film of the times.

Agreed. Marcel Marceau in a speaking role, Fonda being shagged by virtually everyone in the film, Joan Greenwood's husky voice dubbing Anita Pallenberg ("pretty pretty"), John Philip Law as the blond blind angel Pygar ----no way would it work today. A bizarre mismash of styles, tastes (and lack of them) and substance (s).

Another great 60's film people go on about affectionately without having seen it of recent. And it's tedious, merit-less, studio-bound tat, nothing more. Odd how the Flash Gordon remake it influenced was so superior.

The Flash Gordon was merely a (mildly amusing) hommage.
To the one thing Vadim did right (apart from shagging three of the world's most beautiful women, the ugly lucky little Gallic runt.......).
And no-one mentioned Milo O'Shea.
