I have a friend who has a car with a digital trip-meter and he tells me that every time the outside temperature drops to something near freezing the trip-meter always reverts to no miles recorded. What could be the cause??

I had an inkling that some clever bugger would come up with that suggestion, but apart from that obvious suggestion, can anyone come up with a technical reason?. My friend also states that actual mileage recorded does not get erased only the trip-meter.

Maybe the author of that post was the guy who set his RV on cruise control and went in back to make a cup of coffee.

Problem solved!!!!!!! He booked his car in for a service at the dealership and was advised that he needed a new battery which was the cause of the trip meter reverting to zero in cold weather, it was on its way out.
