Christmas day TV

Having stuffed myself stupid with Christmas dinner I decided to retire in front of the TV - what a mistake! Taking it for granted that ITV would be as piss poor as it is every year ( the latest incarnation of pop idol confirming this) I looked at Auntie Beeb instead! So what did treat did we have warmed up and scraped off the pan for us? An even less amusing 'only fools an horses' than the last alleged special, some impression show that was entirely about Beckham and his orange faced, pig nosed wife, the news - ( what a surprise! the queen went to church, no snow this year etc etc - why they don't show a repeat of last years news is anyone's guess - it's always the same!). Oh and of course what's Christmas without a Christmas special Corrie or Eastenders & Christmas Top of the pops ( same shows except with artificial snow) , which I endured instead of a couple of decent French films on BBC2 & channel 4.
Bah Humbug!

as with a lot of programmes recently, the posh & becks big impression show suffered from 'Christmas Special Syndrome' which is when a perfectly good half hour show is expanded to an hour and filled out with a few sing songs and lower quality humour (eastenders, corrie etc... all followed suit).

I can't remember your post but I agree that those films were the best thing on Christmas Day tv. Chomet's 'Belleville Rendez-Vous' was absolutely brilliant. We've seen 'Amelie' before and by the time these two films came on we'd managed to get rid of our hangers-on (sorry, guests) and sat down with a good bottle and watched both of them. A good way of rounding off the day.
