This is a very bad thing to happen. On the radio the presenter said some police bigwig has called for the return of the death penalty for shooting a policeman, what do forumites think? what if someone shot your father/mother/wife etc, does that not count as much?.........However I feel very sorry for the coppers family and hope they catch the odious toe rag that committed this crime and shoot the cunt!

I have seen that movie maggs, v.good, I,m not sure who the copper who asked for the DP to be re-introduced was, it was on the radio in the background, no doubt it will be repeated later, but sad as this shooting was, I just couldn,t help feeling that I might want someone hung for killing a member of my family, copper or not, but I guess feelings are running high with it being one of their own. maybe the culprit if cornered will fuck up and end up getting shot anyway........still tragic.

I reckon the only way to stop guns coming into the country is to stop making the fucking things, however it is a huge industry in a lot of countries and no doubt provides a lot of employment (what a way to earn) I wonder if, when your sat on an assembly(sp) line putting together a kalashnikov or whatever, if it ever crosses your mind some innocent person will be sythed down with the thing...........makes you wonder eh?

There are good and bad in all jobs, Magoo. I haven't had too many dealings with the police, but my experiences have usually been positive and the officers I've seen have been good folk. I can imagine the shock, and probably fear and anger, of police in Leeds at the moment: it could have been any of them, after all. The description of the gunman makes it sound like it was a calculated act---not a young man apparently zonked out on drugs. Hope they catch the evil bastard soon.
The police call for the return of the death penalty will probably be from the Police Federation which cannot say or do anything positive, and so will use this avenue to persuade its members that it has their best interests at heart. Doesn't help the rest of us, though, knowing that a police death is considered more important than that woman and her kids that were killed on Christmas Eve.
Some insane scrote in Glasgow was sentenced late last week for walking into a police office in the city, back in the summer, and firing both barrels of a sawn-off into the chest of the poor unfortunate who happened to be behind the counter. Miraculously, the officer survived, but his body is still peppered with pellets and he'll never work again.
What is it about police press officers? A nut job shoots two policemen, and he is described as "exceptionally dangerous." No shit, Sherlock. Why do they have to state the utterly obvious? "A three ton safe was stolen from a factory today. Police believe a vehicle may have been used" is an example of the crap these press release writers come out with.

Oh, and the man calling for the return of the death penalty was Keith Hellawell, the Joe Stalin lookalike who has been the Government drugs tsar for a year or two and was a deputy chief constable or chief constable before that.
