The Great Escape

EVERY year its on, and every year I watch it. Brilliant stuff. One of these days, McQueen will clear that barbed wire!!
Following on from my 'Remakes of Films' thread, this would be a good one as PoW camps were not as cosy as the 'Butlins' type chalets shown last night.
Was it only 3 that got away in the film? Bronson and the other tunneller and Coburn on a bike?

I agree its dated and overlong like Dirty Dozen, but it is still essential viewing in my opinion.

it is a good film but it is shown rather a lot im sure aug bank holiday monday i saw it i may be wrong but it was recently shown.

I know what you mean Steve, all the times they show it, McQeen gets closer to clearing the barbed wire. He WILL one day, only to get shot in the back as he heads to Switzerland with no fuel in the bikes tank

did you ever see the documentary on steve mc queen think it was called the king of cool,he wanted a part in a film but never got it so he threw hes dinner at the kitchen wall great stuff did some time in a offenders home or detention centre .

A VERY dodgy country who 'avoid' questions about their Nazi gold in their bank vaults. Very sinister IMO
