Why do people think that the better looking you are the better your life is?

I recently watched Extreme Makeover and can't for the life of me understand why someone who wasn't disfigured or had a life threatening condition would undergo surgery purely to improve their looks for their esteem

Surgery is a serious risk regardless of how competent the plastic surgeons are

Justs adds more fuel to the fire that says the West is spirituality bankrupt

I've heard many people say that the beautiful are boring
One thing is for sure.....beauty is only skin deep....what really counts is the Mind,Heart & Soul-cannot be operated on

Beauty can be manufactured, certainly, but it cannot be grafted on to someone's soul. No matter how eye-pleasing the exterior, the inner ugliness (if it exists ar all) will always show through.

i reckon its a youthful thing. the youth believe it and the rest want to be youthful so they adopt the ideas. ...personally i cant wait to be older and not think like that any more its been going on since was like 8 years old ...fucking modern world eh....still better to live now than in the middle ages

It might be a case of other people making life better for you because they find you attractive, want to please you, and thus find favour with you. And you're perhaps not going to experience the sorts of unhappiness the relatively unattractive can sometimes suffer from, especially regarding social situations, favouritism etc.

Well I,m very attractive, and still everybody hates me, you cant win...

i've over the years met some really stunning girls who because of their personalities you would not want to spend time with - and the sex was crap - but some plain girls who are wonderful and have been great to make love with.

it is probably like the diet fad that is going on at the moment with the Atkins diet, my mother is on this at the moment and she is 63, I go to the supermarket with her and she will not eat the majority of the stuff on the shelves, but do people diet to feel good, be healthy, happy?? No. I think people diet for the sole reason of looking more attractive.
