Whatever the reason, it's good to see the whole squad recognised.

At least they've not made the mistake that was done after we won in '66 where it took years for SOME of the players to get anything... and others are still waiting, with the likelyhood of never getting an honour.

why do they need to be recognised - dont u think the world cup/world cup medals/achievement/memories and acolades directly related to the sport are enough in themselves...i thought we were all in agreeance that honours are bullshit and worth fuck all.

I personally have nothing against the honours system, per se. What I'm not happy about is that in many respects they relate to an empire Britain no longer has.

What about the honours that are handed out automatically to senior civil servants who have kept their noses clean?

thanks for ur kind words bob but if u read carefully i never actually said that the idea was an opinion i held and forced around...in fact it has been discussed recently on other threads and other forumites helped to add to my dislike of the honours system but revealing certain facts i had otherwise not known (e.g mart in this current thread) and to answer you - most forumites expressed their distaste with the honours, i cant think of anyone who disagreed really.
