Ready, Steady, Cook

What a pile of pretensious shit this dross is. We all bemoan Ainsley who really is the worst TV host, but the chefs are wankers, except Paul Rankin (The Oirish chef who used to have a stunning missus) because he likes to get ratty with the trailer trash contestants, but Lesley (Blonde woman who can't stop grinning ala Chesire Cat) and Brian (No nonsense Yorkshireman) really irk me. Its my own fault for watching this, but anyone else get wound up over this show?
Ever notice how the 'prettier' women contestants cringe when Ainsley 'flirts' with his arm around them with his pathetic double entrendes?

It's amazing how the phrase "ladies and gentlemen" can send a huge earth tremor down your spine, and make you feel as if you've just showered in slime, when spoken by certain presenters. Groper Ainsley is one, and Henry "What C am I?" Kelly was another example. With some people it just sounds so phoney.

"It's a grrrrrrrreeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeennnnnnnnnnnnn pepper!"

Cooking Shows in general along with Renovation & Lifestyle programs are wearing a bit thin

The main reason...too many of them

Is there a cooking channel on Pay TV?...God knows there are enough
programs to fill one 24 hours a day with all manner of Cooks

The latest mutation of the cooking show that has just appeared downunder on our Governemnt Funded Ethnic TV Channel SBS

The Iron Chef....a 1 hour cook off contest

Comes across as a Battle of Gladiators

Couldn't be any worse than Olivers Plague

What are we up to now show number 4/5?

cheers

The Dalai Delia aside, all of the TV-cookery mafia can sling it, frankly, as most of it's schedule-filling dangling carrots for the proles and/or blithe, middle-class lifestyle crap ("we're cooking in a field today!...."). Notice how the double-barrel brigade loom large, often a bad sign, and many are only there to slyly drum up business for the restaurants/food lines/wine labels/cook books they've commercial interests in. At least DS is always up front about that sort of malarkey. Pass me the mints, my gut aches.

I agree Deuce. Will you please take back the Aussie property progs. we are now having to endure - there are enough Kiwi ones as it is.
Seriously, we now have "Hot Auctions", house sales in Australia on TV1 five nights a week.

You mean 'Hot Property'...thats the tip of the iceberg Mart

They really are nothing more than info-mercials IMHO

Can only imagine the budget must be a pittance....A Host...A Film Crew...and thats it.....the TV Channels love em just as they love putting Best Of shows on because they cost bugger all and they still rate

Like all lifestyle programs the formula doesn't change so show one could easily have been show 1000

cheers
