i live in a town where there are lots of speed camera signs(1 of thousands i bet) but there are no fixed camera's but every month or so we do get a mobil unit trying to catch speeders(which are usually doing about 33mph) anyhow what im trying to get at is this legal?
don't the police have to show a sign somewhere on the road stating that they are there?
should'nt there be signs up saying that there are mobil speed camera's about not just static?
hope that someone can shed some light on this subject?

Speed Limits are dictated by the Highway Code, therefore even if signs aren't displayed, the speed limit for that particular type of road still applies.

coming from northants which i believe has one of the largest numbers of fixed and mobile speed camera's, i please to see that MAD [motorists against detector's] have put a speed camera [pity it is only one] out of commision. lol.

for those who don't know Roade is a village between northampton and milton keynes [stony stratfod].

36 & 38- the biggest problem is on the approach to the village, its a national speed limit [60], then its hard to judge 30 tho' Roade especially when i got caught there was almost no other cars or pedestrians. in the days of a copper on speed duty, one would have just got a caution or warning, but the camera's give no disgretion.

If you think its inaccurate, it may be work persuing, at least getting the picture. There was a case in the news over the last week where a guy got a ticket for doing 51mph, when he calculated his speed from the pictures, he was actually doing 13mph.

my friends son speeds all the time, but his bit of north derbyshire has very few if any of the damn camera's. some parts of the country are becoming no go areas for motorists.

i'd like to know what speed you need to do past a 30 mph camera before its more than 60 quid and 3 points?

Although this is not strictly speaking about speed cameras, but I know someone who was caught crossing those hatch-lines in the centre of the road (to keep traffic apart) at 3.00am. He's a delivery man, but what other traffic might have been about at that sort of hour. The road was perfectly straight for about a mile.
