Well today London launched it's bid for the 2010 Olympic's.
So what do you think, should we be trying to stage the Olympic's? I've got a feeling that most people think it's a waste of time but as someone who lives not far from London I think it will be great to get a chance to see one of the biggest sporting events in the world.
Also it's about time this country stage a really big event might make people proud to be British again!!
Anyway it all sounds very exciting & I hope London wins the bid.

It won't make steve56 happy. He's already complaining about the size of his Council tax bill.

If it has to be held in this country, then London is the place, and as long as it,s privatly funded (sponsorship eyc) fine, lets face it, the majority will watch it on TV anyway, it may as well be held in Conway! I just hope we dont all end up paying for it in the aftermath.
It,s already cost ?25million just for the bid with a further ?2.5billion if it suceeds(sp) yet there doesn,t seem to be any money for any new Hospitals, and it amazing how the transport system is faultless according to the presentation ...............

The trouble is, it will all be done for political gain, rather than in the interests of the sports (& non sports).

The Olymics has always been about Politics
Just a shame they seem to have lost their way in trying to include any event that purports to be a sport
Bring back Chariot Racing I say!!!!!
Remove all those tedious team sports that have no place being there
Handball,Tennis,Soccer,Basketball etc
They all have their own Championships without having to enter the Olympics
cheers

And drop all those so-called sports that rely on judges awarding points.

This can stay as far as I'M concerned, remember those 2 Brazilian stunna's at Sydney 2000?
VERY disappointing that all this money can be pulled out of a hat for a sporting event when the NHS is fucked up with them begging for government aid
