NVIDIA GeForce4 420 Go Graphics Card

Well people, any techies would be useful with this - but basically Ive realised that this little bastard is the cause of all my weird problems on this laptop. Its unusable if the computer starts flickering all over the screen and just dies on me, but it is useable if I can get it to the desktop and into standby, tilt the screen etc and so on to get it to work normally (for a few days_)

...Anyway! Heres my question, does anyone know how much these things cost or where to get one? What are the costs of computer shops fitting something like this nowadays? Basically my warranty expired a while ago and I contacted the magazine I ordered from but Sony want me to prove it....to be honest Id rather just pay for it than go through that hassle..

Any replies appreciated on the costs or good sites to get one from. In advance - thank you.

If it is a laptop then the card will be integrated onto the motherboard and therefore, to all intents and purposes, won?t be changeable or upgradeable - your only option will be to either replace the whole motherboard (which is what would be done under warranty) or to buy a new laptop.

This is the downside of laptops and highlights the importance of making sure you take as long a warranty as possible when you buy one - desktop components are cheap and easy to replace, most laptop ones are not!!

Oh fuck! thanks for the info Jason, Id better get on with chasing up the warranty! Although trading standards told me recently that warranty times are no longer relevant as all "products must last a reasonable amount of time, in the case of computers - 3 years" hmmm?
