i'm looking to buy a
canon ixus 400 (aka canon powershot s400) - or a something equivalent to it. the best uk prices i can find are around ?300.
can anyone point me towards a U.S. online retailer which significantly betters that?
www.amazon.com has it for around ?200 but doesn't despatch electrical goods outside of the usa, afaict.
obviously, p&p/excise duty have to be factored in but the exchange rate is good enough to suggest that there are bargains to be had - IF you know where to look, that is...
recommendations based upon purchases made over the pond would be most handy.

Its always nice to TRY and give something back to the guys who make this forum what it is, so this is my attempt:
Apparently you can get ?50 off that camera at PC World by buying it online
so thats ?298, a grand saving of a pound. wohoo
when it comes to buying things we all know eBay has the cheapest:
Thats not v.satisfactory but im gonna check the USA sites I know tomorrow

You might try an enquiry on this newsgroup: free.uk.photographic.equipment.digital
I got an answer to a query very quickly there recently.

This is the cheapest I can find it stateside Woodgnome priced at $319 plus $74 for shipping, which works out at roughly ?221 delivered to your door.
Not sure how you would stand warranty wise with this though if you purchase electrical goods from the states.

thanx for your time and trouble, guys.
crofter, along with a couple of other people, have highlighted possible concerns re. invalid warranties when goods malfunction outside of their region of purchase. worth bearing in mind, as there's not much joy to be had in acquiring something on the cheap, only for it to cost an arm and a leg when it goes kaput. and knowing my luck...

Have you decided what to do then? I couldn't find it any cheaper than that, most came in at ?310+ (in britain). I should think the PC World or the Amazon one would be best - but at least with PC World if something goes wrong you've got an actual shop to take it to....but ...then...you...know..that..aherm
