21 Grams (review)

This is the new film by the director of 'Amorres Perres'
STORY
The lives of a born again convict (Benecio del Torro), a man waiting for a new heart (Sean Penn) and a widow who also lost her children in a fatal car accident ( Naomi Watts) all become entwined.
PROS
- a really unusual way of dealing with the narrative
- good performances
- superbly edited
CONS
- a touch too long
VERDICT
This is a film which demands concentration as the story jumps back and fore all the time - don't even think of going for a pee or watching it pissed. But that what makes it so compelling. If you want to see a good, well thought out, well directed, well acted, well edited film this for you. However it really is very depressing but if you can stick with it you'll be rewarded. Out in early March - probable oscar contender for performances I would think.
