The jokes weren't about murdered children.
Had Magoo's joke mentioned the girls, then he would have been slated by everyone, more to the point, he wouldn't have posted it.

Tell you what, when old Maxwell drowned at sea, do you think they went a bit overboard with the coverage.

Odd, but you picked on the Huntley line but chose not to hit the Jackson Paedophile allegations.

Anyway, the jokes were not about murdered children, nor were they paedophillic.

Having read the posts that Mags has brought forward, I have to say, it's odd coming from someone who has bitched about PC going too far.

Sick humour, and even sick humour about murder victims, isn't new. It can be offensive, but humour is often used as a way to deflect pain---making a joke out of something to prevent you having to think about the horror of what happened to people. The Soham killings touched a particular nerve in this country, and if Magoo's post had been directed at the victims of that crime then there might have been an argument for deletion. The fact is, it wasn't.

Humour is cruel, and it's nasty, and it picks at the scabs of people's emotions . . . . but it's also necessary to keep us sane amid all the crazy things that happen in the world every day.

Well firstly to begin with i have intentionally NOT made any comment regarding Michael Jackson because;

(a) I do not know exactly what the evidence is against him
(b) Although previous allegations have been made he has not been convicted.
(c) As a lawyer not only would it be slanderous it may also be liableous as well.

I find it strange that everyone wants to play down the point about not laughing at a child murderer, well what could you be laughing about when you mention IH bathing children? and a Popstar who is alleged to have molested children.

Also one forumite seems to validate the argument that the joke is fine to repeat based on the fact we are on a porn forum, this i feel not only sends out the wrong message about what type of person uses a site like this but it also makes an ifference that jokes about murdered children are acceptable.

As with previous posts i have made i want to uphold the right to free speech and expression, however that should not be at the expense of people who have children i assume sexually abused and murdered.

To put it another way would any of you find it acceptable to hear a joke told about your parents, siblings, or partners relating to a person who had murdered them, i think not, and i am not such a hypocrite to try and convince anyone that i have never told a joke about contentious subject.

However i am Big Enough and Brave Enough to say i don't find such a joke funny, it's nothing to do about PC

Ps perhaps a straw poll should be taken from people posting on this site asking if they found the joke funny/acceptable/or offensive???

Freedom of Speech means anything goes no matter how unpalatable it may be

As long as it doesn't break any of the FAQs
on this forum then its going to stand

Isn't the whole point of a forum to discuss contentious opinions with reasoned debate not to take black & white positions at the out set

What is humor anyway?

Laughs at other peoples expense

Logically you could say all humor has the potential to offend

Leave the Moralising/Moderating to the Mods and just state your case position

And bearing in mind the rules of the forum are you saying we can post jokes about Lesbians, Gays, Minorities, or other iterest's because that is what free speech means.

I think you will find within the FAQ's the term "Cause Offence" which this post did to me and i suspect others.

It is strange however that if the Original Subject and subsequent posting were not offensive or contreversial then why has it been removed?.

Get your facts right NOBBY, you know what I meant, did I say the joke was fine?...No!
I said you were on a porn forum, not a Christian Scientist discussion board! and niether did I infer that jokes about murdred children were acceptable............as you stated above, maybe you would be better off posting on a legal forum putting everyone straight.
