Borrowed a fantastic Paul Robeson recording last Sunday from Wellington Central library (yes, that's right - Sunday - 7 day opening) The Legendary Moscow Concert. Ok, I could copy it but I like paying my dues so I tried to buy it. No longer available. I visited the 2 biggest 2nd hand sources (in Cuba St.)
The first had no Paul Robeson, the second only had 1 - yes, the very one I was looking for.

THE most amazing coincidence ever!!!! ..and absolutely true!

A guy called Colin decided to take a day of work. Aware that the girl operating his computer in the office was new, he told her to call him at home if there was any problems. At some point in the afternoon Colin went down to the local shops....as he was passing a phone box it started ringing!

Now normally Colin wouldn't bother with ringing phone boxes but for some reason he decided to answer it. He picked it up and said "Hello?" It was the new girl Joan from his office asking for advice about the computer!!!!

Colin was astounded! He tried to explain that he wasn't at home as the girl thought, but that she had rung a phone box and he had just happened to be walking past....she thought he was joking.

It turns out that when she looked up Colin's phone number on the Rollerdesk she had inadvertantly rung his employee number instead which by amazing coincidence was exactly the same as the number of the phone box he was walking past at the time!!!!

Beat that!

I was just dreaming of passing a phone box as it rung, I answered it only to find it was Lord Lucan on the other end trying to place a bet with Ladbrokes, the phonebox was on......Ladbroke avenue!!!!!.....beat that.

Several years ago, a guy who lived near me, into all things american, decided he must have a certain car to add to his stable of 50's/60's American classics. So he flew to the US, spent 3 weeks and about 12,000 miles criss-crossing the country visiting classic car dealers, but all to no avail, returning home empty handed.

He found the exact car he wanted a week later, in a forecourt about 8 miles from his house!
