It would seem theres an epidemic of people mostly young defaulting on phone bills all due to this modern way of communication
When you consider that because the phones are in the parents names their the ones who lose their credit rating and have to go through the ringer to get it back.
Apparently this happened to a high profile executive just recently
Anybody beat the record of 600 SMS messages in a day?
cheers

A leading addiction clinic here is now offering treatment for people suffering from text addiction.......guess that guy & his 600 messages will be one of their first customers!

Not likely unless its advertised as a holiday for Young Aussie idiots with no brains...the usual Oktoberfest advertising....projectile vomit is still the most favored form of communication for this group of neanderthals when leaving the Home Cave

Hmm, interesting observation.
If the phones are registered in the parents name you'd think they might want to keep tabs on the 'progeny of their loins' phone usage.
Responsibility is a double edged sword in these circumstances.
Sounds like a good case for parents to remove the SIM cards & lock em up........or in the worst cases, ram 'em up the offending youthful backside!

......walking home recently in the rush-hour, I was passed by a late-teenage girl on a push-bike: she was steering with her left hand, while TEXTING with the right, and her safety-helmet looked about as sturdy as wet cardboard.
I thought to myself- 'Natural Selection in action- she won't live long enough to pass on her genes for incredible stupidity'.

I don't get the whole mobile phone thing. A recent survey found that some people feel insecure if they don't have them when they go to the corner shop.
Still I havn't got one and don't intend to get one. So I can feel smug about all those flash bastards who can't sit in a cafe or bar without putting their phones on the table. "Look at me. I'm so important that I mustn't miss a message". Wankers.

I need one for work- which is why I turn the bastard off for long periods of time.
Got bored with texting after about 4 minutes, besides the thing is so small I need a magnifying-glass and stylus to use it. That's probably because it's got all that WAP crap and other stuff on it that I never use (not that I have the foggiest how to). My old one was chunkier and easier to use, but MUCH heavier.
As someone who finds even a land-line somewhat intrusive (great not to have to go to a call-box in the pissing rain, though), I find the possession of a mobile just so you can say 'I'm on the train/bus/camel'totally inane, and those who shout loudly to someone (more likely no-one) at the other end about all the parties they're going to, more than a mite crypto-aggressive: I don't want to hear your deeply uninteresting crap, you sad cunt, I want to concentrate on the crossword. Bastards. They deserve death, by means that even I am not inventive enough to devise..................
But I'm working on it.
Possibly a flesh-eating virus, transmitted by text-message.

Way too soft- I want the bastards to SUFFER, painfully and lingeringly, in mortal agony.
Same applies to over-loud personal stereos (buy some WaxSol), eating (they don't run trains through your kitchen, so don't eat on the train- it ain't got a reataurant car), anyone under 21, putting on make-up (slovenly cow), snogging (that's what alleys are for), putting feet on seats (animal), wet hair from the shower (get up earlier you lazy bastards) and anything else that bugs the hell out of me but can't recall at the moment.
