Have to really disagree on this. Peter Kay is an average comedian, his material is nothing innovative or side splittingly funny.

As for Phoenix Nights it is a blatant rip off from Reeves & Mortimer's Barrons Nightclub.

I put Ricky Gervais in the same category, only French & Saunders make me laugh less.

For a great modern comedy look at Frasier, Niles is an all time great comic creation.

Well its a bit late to try and get into Friends now lol. I know a lot of people think its all too american and glossy but its had incredible writing throughout the years and has really been a large part of the whole american tv cultural thing for the 90s. I always loved it although the series 10 (?) trailers look shit :S Kinda how their humour could go wrong and shouldve.

Was just watching ricky gervais' Animals dvd. him and peter kay both based around one idea (like most...) kays is a kinda working class northern reality piss take, gervais is a kinda pisstake of cheesy, corny situations. Not everyone can be innovative, in fact comedy is near impossible to be innovative nowadays.,...cept for Peep Show

theres loads of good northern comedians the only 1 i never liked was les dawson,he never made me laugh.
