.......who hates the 'new', compact Times. Or others of the genre.
Doing the x-word is impossible as there's not enough room to get at the bottom, and the features/editorials are buried in the news pages..
Tabloid broadsheets- ugh.

What's the x-word like?
Is every answer either 'tit' or 'bum'?

well, its a WINNER as far as I'm concerned JJ.
I think all broadsheets should have a compact version, and the buyer decide which version he could read.
Years ago, the sunday rags were broadsheet form, and murder to read about dodgy vicars and the like.

On Sundays, you don't have to read them on a crowded train (unless yer travelling Virgin X-Country), so it's hard to see the logic there.
And experts tell me is it's easier to lay a coal-fire using b/sheets than tabloids, don't ask me why. AND they're better for use as packing for parcels. AND they taste nicer.

Personally think the compact Independent is a great paper. I never read the Independent until they brought out the compact version.

Well!, stop doing crosswords (they only make you clever) and you dont want that, dont read the features/editorials etc (they only make you knowledgable) and thats no good for you, just read the front and back pages.
Or keep a full size old copy, and tape the new smaller one inside, whilst you read it.
Hope this helps.
