With Blunketts help they have managed to change a legal system that has served us well and been the blueprint and envy of many others the world over, also doesn't the fight against terrorism remind you of the McArthy witch hunts of the fifties!!!

fucking hate blunkett. At the risk of being totally politically incorrect I dont see how a blind person can trully comprehend the visual world well enough to be able to have any level of power in its evolution and alterations!

....the level of proof required in certain prosecutions being lowered in order to secure convictions.
In a sane country, such a lack of proof means that the prosecution has failed to make its case, and the defendant goes free.
The rationale here goes: 'I saw you reading about Al-Qaeeda, therefore you are a terrorist, therefore take life imprisonment', sort of thing. Solid evidence? 'Nah, too difficult......sod 'em: they're all just wogs anyway.......'.
Next step? Blankwit thinks: 'that worked well, why don't we apply it to ALL trials'? Cool Britannia becomes Cell Britannia.

Blair has become Thatch, it's official. Ministers who can do a job but are not on-message are constantly being replaced by incompetents who will do whatever Tone tells them to: Blunkett, Straw, Hoon, Hewitt, etc.
It's noticeable that his anger with Short seemed to be more for blowing the gaffe than anything else.

Prescott, Straw, Blunkett.....you look at Labour's front bench and with the exception of Gordon Brown, you have to believe they are only there to make Blair look good by comparison!
