Its a movie like Godzilla that needs mega bucks to be brought to its

Watched the original again just recently. Stonking good film for its time, well, for any time really, with some very gratuitous violence. As for the first remake, it had de Laurentiis's name attached---nuff said!

All good things come to an end eventually

Special effects that complimented the storyline unlike todays drivel
which tends to dominate it

Best demonstrated in battle scenes

To be fair to the remake, I thought it was an interesting (if all-too-obvious) attempt to explore the psychological interaction between Beauty and the Beast.
And of course, it helped having an actress of Lange's calibre- rather than, say, Dolly Balance, or whatever her name was............
