I've been using the free version of Panicware Popup stopper for some time.I'm getting more popups recently and there is never an update on the site. Does this mean that I really ought to upgrade and pay. There is an old saying "No such thing as a free lunch".

Be sure your browser has not downloaded and installed a 'helper'
that is getting these pop ups.
My son went to a site that downloaded NetPal which controls the
adverts you get.
Two useful programs you can install are WinPatrol and Adaware.
Download a program called WinPatrol and this will tell you all the
programs that are running and what helpers you have. Leave
WinPatrol running all the times and it will warn you if a program
tries to install itself.
Download Adaware which will search your PC for sites that are
using your machine for advertising.
Both these programs are free for personal use and in conjunction
with each other they are very useful.
This is a bit technical, but WinPatrol can also open your HOSTS
file to see if someone has updated that with a pointer to a web
site to control pop ups.

Why not just use Netscape? This has built in pop-up stopping at the click of a check box.

I've got Winpatrol, Spybotsearchand destroy and Spysweeper installed. I wondered if popups keep changing like viruses etc. so the free version of Panicware just isn't up to date.

WinPatrol can be downloaded from
Adaware can be downloaded from
To find a program like this just go into Google
and search for either product name.

Any one task free product that doesn't offer any updates is next to useless when combatting todays popup technology
Panicware say themselves that their free product doesn't stop the latest pop-ups using Flash
Having said that the might be of help
You'll need to be using IE5.5 or better
cheers

Just use
Mozilla or
Firefox and you'll never see a popup again. Not to mention tabbed browsing and the option to add extensions like "flash-click-to-play" and plenty of other things t make your pornbrowsing more enjoyable.
