Travesty

Post by Pervert »

Fools And Horses the top British sitcom---do me a favour! And what the hell was the sodding Vicar Of Dibley doing finishing third. Proof, if it were needed, that there are some people with voting rights who couldn't outwit a soggy banana sandwich.

Sorry, but of all the possible worthy winners (Tower, Porridge, One Foot, Dad's Army), to vote for this long played out pile of pish is ridiculous. Once upon a time John Sullivan knew when to finish a sitcom (Dear John and Just Good Friends came to natural conclusions). Time to pull the plug (and the Plonker and the Trigger) on Peckham for once and for all.

Annoyed of Caledonia.

(Still, at least France won!)

You always knew it was going to be 'Only Fools.....'

It has it plus points but it has rather been done to death......& is now repeated just about every week on TV......so much so I know which show it is just by reading the Radio Times.

Yes!! What WAS Vicar Of Dibley doing at 3!!!! Thought Dad's Army might take that slot.

More intresting was what was out of the top ten......The Office!!

Bit pointless, trying to pick one from such a varied selection- LOG, for example: brilliant, yes, sitcom, no way.
Cheapo TV, like all those list shows. I only watched because I was at work and had nothing better to do while I was reading the papers and rolling fags.

There's always room in our trophy cabinet for spurtles :-)

And without a wooden spoon, how would I be able to stir things up?

The better ones were relics from the 70's and 80's and sadly DO look dated, regardless of brilliant performances and writing. Porridge and Dads Army STILL hold up well, but lets be realistic, todays generation of comedy viewers dismiss these and other classics as 'old hat'
I also think that the continual repeats don't do the programmes any justice.
I also happen to think Vicar of Dibley IS refreshingly amusing, but not a patch on Father Ted IMO
Also, anyone notice that all the programmes were BBC1 programmes and nothing from ITV or Channel 4? So, all said and done, it was slightly biased

Just seems clear to me that Fawlty Towers should be no1, and in reality it is. Polls are useless because people dont wanna waste their vote on something they think is already gonna get shitloads of votes

Fawlty Towers isn't funny anymore ID as its been played to death on repeat showings.
It WAS funny once upon a time, but not anymore.
And on the subject, I have only laughed about 3 times with Only Fools......... as I cannot stand David Jason, and that old cunt who played the Granddad was equally unfunny. Only Lindhurst and Buster Merryfield make this fodder 'watchable'. A PRIME example of well past its sell-by-date
