A slightly relevant anecdote magoo regarding Grecian 2000. I travelled to NZ from Philadelphia by ship. Ashore in Houston, Texas I visited the Flying Angels (like the Missions to Seamen) and noticed that the shop carried a large stock of Grecian 2000. A few days later the Captain told us that the Fillipino officers and crew were extremely proud of their hair and disguised any greyness by dyeing it. The other passengers scoffed but I then reported my hair dye sighting.
