'Sequel to "Gloomy Sunday" - Billie Holiday.'
Is that true, mart ? Very interesting if so.
The 'Gloomy Sunday' that I know recorded by Holiday in 1941 was itself a version of a pessimistic and lovelorn Hungarian song written in 1935 that became popular across Europe before and during the War..
The great Aaron 'T-Bone' Walker's seminal 'Stormy Monday Blues' was written in 1947 when he was recording for the old Black and White label. I'd like to know more about the connection between the two.
Thanks.

'Wasnt there a film set in Newcastle called Stormy Monday? It starred Sting and some american I cannot recall.'
Yes there was, magoo, and for something with sting in it - I thought it was a good film but the film buffs on here may have other views. I think the American was Tommy Lee Jones, who played an American wanting to take over a British town (unlike Dubya who wants the whole place).
I'm sure there are no end of people wishing to follow steve56's life on the 'net - like a BGAFD version of the Truman Story - but unfortunately a sad git like me is genuinely interested in the music bits mentioned by mart. Sorry !
Just had a thought - a film based on a weblog of steve56's life -a new low in reality tv !

Thanks, mart.
Very interesting stuff. It is a legendary song with a cult around it especially in Central Europe even to this day and this site tells me a lot more about it. I'm surprised more people don't record it - perfect for a lot of misery that imitates pop music nowadays.
