Seems like things havn't changed much since WWII.
One of the most successful defence lawyers has managed to get only 1 (yes one) client completely discharged during his more than 20 years as a practising lawyer.

George Bush is trialing the Japanese system in guantanamo bay as we speak

After watching the recent documentary on this subject all I can say is that Japan is one sick country

100 percent conviction rate of all arrested tells you something isn't right
Its easily understood when you find out that the Police can hold you for weeks without proof.treat you like a POW until you crack

So all inevitably sign a confession which takes the court system out of play

Thank god we won WW2

Most certainly

Most docos about Japan are bizarre even to those with an open mind

The one about the students that crack under the pressure and literally start living in their bedrooms for years on end was appalling but just a symptom of a society imploding IMO

Forget exactly what they call it

.......the trouble is, they seem completely to miss all those murderers/rapists of foreign tourists.
Funny, that...........not that I'm suggesting that Japan is still an incredibly racist society, oh no.
Just ask any Ainu............
