Box of chocolates

Apparently towards the end of the Victorian era it was common practice for husbands to assume they must have infected their wives with Syphilis. They didn't tell them but gave them chocolates containing the medication of the time.

Is that the origin of giving your girl friend/partner/wife a box of chocolates when you are feeling guilty?

I never give chocolates as gifts so I'm safe

I wouldn't be so sure about Flowers...they are edible after all

Plastic flowers maybe...you can use them again and again and again

Theres a message in there somewhere

cheers

"I never give chocolates as gifts so I'm safe".
Well, no, they'd melt in Oz, wouldn't they?

Mind you, if Dibsy has his beef smoked much more, the resultant by-product heat will send Britain's temperature soaring, too. That, and the steam coming out of my ears.........
