'Properly managed', and 'buy time' is the weasel-wording here.
Are we not still deforesting at an unprecedented rate, and meanwhile sitting on our complacent arses? Or has the policy suddenly changed overnight and I haven't noticed?
Oh, and we weren't told who was funding this 'research': it's always nice to have the cui bono, don't you think?
You'll clutch at any straw not to have to surrender a mere 1% of your lifestyle, won't you?

Greed is good, eh?

'I guess the Hollywierd director will not like this little diddy on CNN's website...eh?'

As the director of a completely ficticious film, I imagine Mr Emmerich is delighted in sending knee-jerk reactionaries into a tizz as the end result is always the same (kerr-ching.)

The first part of my post was critical of the report rather than you- and the rest of it was aimed more at the admin than you personally.
I agree that there needs to be a level playing-field (but see my previous comments about evening up trade to compensate poorer nations), but where the US leads, all follow, eventually- and wouldn't it be nice to have the moral high ground for a change, instead of having to be forced, kicking and screaming like stuck pigs, to act?
I don't much care for a lot of environmentalists either, but the scientific warnings seem to me to warrant prompt action. I despise our government too, for its pusillanimity in dealing with this issue.

Gee, I'm so relieved that I don't have to do any more worrying about climate change.
Seriously though, it would be a lot more convincing if Bimmercat gave us proper links so we can check the sources for ourselves.

Yes, we were told, jj.
" According to its Web site, the group's corporate sponsors are Alcoa Alumina Australia, the petroleum giant Royal Dutch/Shell, and Stanwell Corporation Limited, an energy company owned by the state of Queensland."
By some strange accident, Bimmercat left that bit out.

No, but you left out one crucial part of the news item: the sponsors.
